Phentermine Popularity
According to the official Phentermine website,
Phentermine accounts for 50% of the total appetite suppressant prescriptions.
That is a huge market share for one medication. They claim that the fact that Phentermine is significantly
cheaper than the other major players in the weight loss drug field, such as Xenical and Meridia, plays a big
part in the popularity of Phetermine.
FDA Approval
Phentermine is an older drug, it scored FDA approval in 1959 as an appetite suppressant for the short term
treatment of obesity. That same year, Phentermine resin was available via a prescription, then in the early
1970's, Phenteramine Hydrochloride made its debut to the public as well.
Brand Name Phentermine
Today in the USA, Phetermine is sold under the brand names Adipex-P and Ionamin, and is currently sold
as a generic medication under the name "Phentermine". In past years it had been also available under the brand
name Fastin, but in 1998 the company who sold it under that name withdrew it from the market.
The exact reason why Phenteramine is still so popular after almost 50 years of being on the market, may
be somewhat of a mystery to some, but there are countless other people who have used it and apparently know
it's popularity has stayed in tact all these years. The way it looks, Phentermine will retain it's
market share for today, as well as the years to come.
